Bruce Irons Reports Positive Results From Psychedelic Rehabilitation Treatment

“I still feel like I have one or two more wins left in me — one more Pipe Masters, one more Eddie.”

“My brother was the baddest motherfucker to ever live,” said Bruce Irons, “and I’m doing this for him.”

The news was released in a conversation with Bruce on the Instagram account of a legal, licensed psychedelic treatment facility in Cancun, Mexico called Beond that specializes in Ibogaine — a plant whose psychedelic properties have been used in Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo for centuries for healing and coming-of-age rituals.

Ibogaine, like other extremely powerful psychedelics, is no “party drug”. Its effects last for 24 hours and the user is reported to experience a dream-like state where they confront their most traumatic experiences and otherwise reassess themselves in deep, difficult ways. Ibogaine is most commonly used today in medical settings (where the drug is legal) to help people with severe drug addiction achieve sobriety, sometimes with only one treatment.

Ibogaine treatment centers as well as third-party university studies recently revealed that two-thirds of patients who underwent Ibogaine treatment for addiction experienced near-complete lack of cravings and greatly diminished withdrawal symptoms. Scientists say the drug, when taken under medical supervision, “resets” the brain in ways that allow for recovery of drug addiction, depression, PTSD, and severe anxiety.

Ibogaine is still illegal in the U.S. and is categorized as a Schedule I drug, like Heroin or LSD. But Ibogaine treatment centers are legal in places like Mexico, where Bruce and a growing number of other Americans are going to try out legal psychedelic treatment — especially during The United States’ “opioid epidemic”.

Bruce in the video mentions his battles with “depression and drugs” in the past and how treatment helped him. “The medicine from the plant they provide helps you go deep into your mind and into your vision, it helped me find that inner child again,” Bruce said, “I’m getting healthy and strong again, I’m gonna get back in the water, I still have some big waves and barrels I need to get at Pipeline and Waimea. I still feel like I have one win in me left, or two. One more Pipe Masters, one more Eddie. Let’s do it. I’m fucking going for it.”

Bruce also mentioned his frustration with “western medicine” and the rehab facilities that he feels failed his brother and close friends. “The rehabs in the States suck,” said Bruce, “My brother and everyone I knew in his rehab facility ended up passing away. I’m doing this for all of my fallen brothers.”

We look forward to seeing you in the water and maybe even on the podium, Bruce.
