How about the disjointedness of the women’s tour? The calendar starts with a flurry of three events back to back in March (with only three days between each). Then the gals swoop to NZ early-April, followed by Rio in early May. Then, nothing happens for two months. Then, back to back events in July. And had this been 2012, the tour would’ve ended there. But as it is this year, the EDP Cascais Girls Pro has been added to the tour, even though it ain’t til October (leaving another two month gap between).

Which brings us to the Komune Beach Club at Keramas in Bali, midway through the year’s first two-month break, where Carissa Moore has been posted up on what accompanying photographer Ryan Miller describes as “half-surf trip, half vacation.” And, how’s the stint been for Miller? “Keramas has been just nutty,” he says. “It’s always been wild, but now with Komune there, the place is just too good to be true. Sitting poolside watching people shred while sipping a cocktail and eating a seared ahi salad is just too much. Feels like cheating. Actually, feels like living! This is how all surf trips should be. To hell with sleeping in tents, driving down dirt roads and cooking over a camp fire. That’s what I call homelessness. This is what a surf trip should be made of, especially if you have to sit in a cubicle for 50 weeks of the year.”

Y’might call that the perfect location for a Dream Tour event. Which is exactly why it’ll be heavily populated for the Oakley Bali Pro, come June 18.
