One minute Kelly’s auctioning off a surfboard, the next thing you know SurfAid’s cashing a $25,000 check. Or something like that. In the space of an hour today, a signed Slater Designs Gamma model was put up as part of a “buy it now” fundraiser for SurfAid and sold for $25,000.

The buyer remains anonymous at this time and Slater’s Insta feed ain’t spilling any beans.

“This incredible turn around exceeded all expectations and will ensure even more families have access to clean water & sanitation, basic health care, and improved nutrition,” said a statement released by SurfAid. “The board was purchased by a SurfAid supporter who has been a dedicated member of the SurfAid Tribe. SurfAid is stoked to have two of its strongest advocates work together to support our families in Indonesia.”

According to Slater Design’s main man Travis Lee, the unridden board was part of Kelly’s J-Bay quiver and was part of his first run of boards in Firewire’s new helium technology. To date, Slater’s never auctioned off a contest-winning board, and when the champ does donate a board to a good cause it typically draws $5,000 to $6,000. Although one of his broken boards from a Fiji contest is rumored to have sold for $50,000 and now hangs in a coffee shop in the Hamptons.

SurfAid will also be auctioning off a Rob Machado Fish and Taylor Jensen TJ Pro, all courtesy of Firewire. No pressure, guys.
