Gallery: Hurley Pro warm-up at Lowers with Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith and more

All photos by Tom Carey / Landon Knight Welcome back to Lowers for the Hurley Pro. Over the weekend, a fresh swell filled in and surfing’s best skatepark lit up. Given the event starts on Tuesday local time, every competitor that flew in early took on the local crowd and got used to wearing rubber after being in Chopes, and reacquainted themselves with airs and railwerk after two weeks of backside tubes. Some standouts were Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith, John John Florence, Gabriel Medina, Kolohe Andino and… yeah, big surprises there, huh? This event will be an absolute gem to watch, given the current performance level on tour and the fact that Kelly now wants nothing more than to beat Gabriel Medina. Do. Not. Miss.
