Hawaiian diver attacked by tiger shark
At 3:52pm local Hawaiian time today, emergency crews responded to a call from Upolu Point in North Kohala; 27-year-old Kapaau man John Braxton had been bitten on the leg while spearfishing by what’s believed to have been a 13-foot tiger shark. Following the attack he was taken via pick-up truck to meet medics, before being airlifted to North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was in a serious condition. Beaches were not closed because the attack occurred in an isolated and remote area. Thanks to flash flooding, water conditions were very murky – the kind we’re always warned against entering due to heightened risk of shark danger. Below is a video that the victim, @_braxton_john_ managed to shoot and upload himself while being transferred. Warning: It’s pretty graphic.
