This is what The Box looked like today (w/ John John Florence and more)

First things first: Looking at a gallery of photos is very different to watching a spot for an hour. The Box was nowhere near consistent enough to be contestable for the Drug Aware Pro today. That doesn’t mean a session didn’t go down.
WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow was charging the hardest out of anyone. Maybe it was in fact contestable and he called the event off so he scratch into the day’s biggest waves! We kid – there wasn’t enough waves for heats.
Obviously Jack Robinson and John John Florence were living most dangerously via some double-barrel shotgunning, with John John holding a RED Dragon camera (uh, around $30k) inside the tube.
While Kieren was on the day’s biggest, John found the best, as he does, and was the overall standout of the session. Is he ever not in barrels of consequence? (Or just barrels in general).
For all his modesty and nonchalance, Mr Florence can’t help being the star.
John John films Jack with a RED Dragon – yeah, slightly more weighty and expensive than a GoPro – and probs nails the shot.
Four of the 12 hands in which surfing will most firmly rest in the next 15 years.
Age don’t mean shit to Jack Robinson – he rules these parts like a far more seasoned man. Placement: Everything.
Reckon deep down, Kieren Perrow was a little relieved that it was inconsistent today? Means he gets to do this.
This image kinda sums up why Mr Perrow is a WSL Commissioner we can back.
Adriano is a worker. He admitted that he found The Box scary and that it wasn’t a strong point for him, so what’s he do on his layday? Goes and puts time in out there to get the place more wired. Can’t argue with that.
Seabass is excellent at The Box. While Bass has been plagued by 13ths, he found the slightly fresher air of a ninth in the West. And, well deserved.
When he wasn’t ripping Main Break or The Box, Bass also found some of the day’s best waves when North Point was firing. He’s no stranger to straightening the back in a tube.
And, wipeout of the day goes to mr Alex Gray.
