All You Need to Surf Like Noa Deane

These Volcom boardshorts have it all, plus a signature plumber’s crack gift-with-purchase.

Don’t let the early aughts fit fool you; these are infused with modern tech noticeable enough to make a high-fi CT surfer say “damn”.

Product: Volcom Surf Vitals Noa Deane 21″ Trunk

Color: Navy (dropping early May)

Price: $75

The delicate balance of sturdy and stretchy found in the Volcom Surf Vitals Noa Deane baggies is undeniable. Despite feeling slightly stiff when dry, thanks to a heavyweight, durable fabric, these enter a new realm in the water, becoming entirely maneuverable, silky smooth, and, dare I say, “athletic”.

And with a length leaning towards Y2K 2.0 (meaning no excess bagginess but enough length to make Bruce proud), paired with a four-way stretch fabric, the internal comfort level was the most apparent out of the entire 2023 ‘Best’ roster.

Don’t expect to get by without a Noz signature plumber crack, though, as these tend to drop a bit when coming around the section (not sure if this is an intentional design feature but it’s definitely working).

The crack of Deane not pictured.

X-Factors:

  • Designed in collaboration with core lord, table-lover, and SSOTY winner, Noa Deane
  • A wider and longer cut throws things back to 90s heritage Volcom vibes
  • 4 Way Stretch fabric adds comfort to the inherent durability
  • Sturdy without sacrificing soft hand-feel
  • Water-repellant material for faster dry-times
  • Straightforward cinch fly does away with the need for Velcro
  • Back pocket with key loop detail and velcro closure

Verdict: Silky smooth. Noa Deane’s signature plumber crack is included with every purchase.

Note: Garrett is 6’0, 170 lb., wearing size 32.
