Round two of The Billabong Pro, Tahiti
Sure, it wasn’t the nicest day, or whatevs, but holy hell, did y’see some of those caves? Like, er, today’s Full Frame? Or Raoni Monteiro’s unanimous 10? Or Alejo Muniz’ 9.60? Immense, to say the least. Round two was a giant-killing round, with Joel Parkinson, Taj Burrow and Adrian De Souza going down, leaving only two of the top five world title contenders in the event (Jordy Smith and Mick Fanning). And it’s gonna get bigger than this? Sure is an exciting few days ahead. Y’can watch the Billabong Pro, Tahiti right here. Michel Bourez took down Dan Ross with two 8-point-something rides. Local knowledge, huh? Photo: ASP/Kirstin Ace Buchan, with a combined heat total of 17.10 (the highest of round two) easily beat Gabe Kling. Photo: ASP/Robertson Taj Burrow was eliminated from competition today, after losing to Brazilian wildcard Ricardo Santos. Photo: ASP/Robertson Josh Kerr, with a combined total of 15.60, ousted bede Durbidge. Did y’know he was this comfortable in the big stuff? Yup, not just an air freak. Photo: ASP/Kirstin Raoni Monteiro eliminated fellow Brazilian Adriano De Souza, nabbing the contest’s first perfect 10 in the process. Photo: ASP/Kirstin Dan Ross, in a short john (a rare wetsuit, these days, but awesome!) couldn’t get past Michel Bourez.
