Drew Brophy, Your Favorite 90’s Surfboard Posca Artist In Induced Coma From Covid
Let’s get him back in the water.
Drew Brophy was formerly the head artist at Lost Surfboards painting the decks of surf heavyweights Tom Carrol, Tom Curren and more. For the past seven weeks, he has been hospitalized with severe COVID symptoms that required putting him in an induced coma.
According to Surfer, “Over the past three decades, Brophy has distinguished himself as one of the premier surf artists alive, traveling the world funded by his talents, bringing life to every surfer’s fantasies through paint.
Every barreling and glazed wave is a deep-blue dream jumping off the canvas, foam balls shooting into the screaming sun. We don’t need no stinkin’ theory, man. Brophy’s art is a straight punch to the face.”
Drew’s condition is finally starting to come better after being in ICU on a ventilator for the better part of a month. “Drew is still in an induced coma, which means he’s heavily sedated. Last Friday my family and I were finally able to go in his room and see him. We got to hold his hand for the first time in 20 days,” reported his wife, Maria on Saturday.
While his family is covered by insurance, out-of-pocket expenses can be huge and all contributions would be appreciated.
If you are in a position to do so, you can contribute at the gofundme page or buy art from his website to support them.
