An Unknown Kid Surfing An Unknown Reef At A Place You Know You’ll Never Go
Jobe Harriss scores a secret reef somewhere in Scotland.
I could be way off here, but is there not a sense of sadness that follows an epic solo session? Afterwards, you’re only able to feel half-happy, on account of nobody being there to witness and share this wonderful experience. Tree’s falling in forests and whatnot… There’s certainly an egotistical aspect to it, but I like to think there’s a bit of selflessness in this feeling as well.
Because nothing beats the shared experience of scoring perfect waves with a couple of mates. For years you can relive that high through incrementally sensationalized stories and anecdotes, while never feeling the self-fondling guilt of telling a solo session tale.
But on this day in Scotland, Jobe Harriss scored a session with no one but his filmer, Anthony Butler, which is the next best thing to surfing with a friend. You’ll never have the need to boast about your session, as the video will do that for you. Plus you get all the best waves.
Maybe it’s actually better than surfing with a friend….
