Watch: Julian Wilson's Backside Varial Big Spin

You should watch this, below, in embeddable Instagram form. Yesterday, on the world's premier PR platform, Julian Wilson released this clip from his edit, "Wayward". Upon further review, the tech and trick nerds in Stab’s office have picked apart, analyzed and confirmed the technical name of this manoeuvre.

Let’s break it down: Julian takes off on this left and heads towards a rather unassuming ramp. He does the air. While in the air he does a shuv-it, he grabs his rail and flicks the board a full 360 degrees - this is what categorizes this as a “varial” trick. Jules then rotates his body 180 degrees, landing with his chest facing the wave - the twist of his body turns this into a big spin. And, the fact he went at the ramp on his backhand leaves us with the final, wordy combination of a “Backside Varial Big Spin.”
