Watch: Asher Pacey In “Water Over Sand”
A celebration of simplicity and surfing on two.
Recently we ran an experiment. We asked our audience who their top three favourite surfers are. They could pick anyone, old, young, CT, freesurfer. Anyone at all. Seventeen thousand responded, Asher Pacey placed sixteenth.
Mr Pacey doesn’t appear to be someone looking to win popularity contests, however. Perhaps that’s why we love him. His approach is easy going. Silk-smooth. He’s part of a handful who have singlehandedly rekindled the surfing’s love for surfing on two fins.
Pairing up with Matt Kleiner and support from his Rhythm family, we have his latest creation. A five minute short film, shot somewhere on the east coast of Australia and cut to an appropriately suited sixties soundtrack. Plenty of tantalising user-friendly walls, cut down by our long haired protagonist. We’ll allow their words to paint a finer picture before you slide up and indulge:
“Water Over Sand. The most simplistic description of a surfers playing field. True to simplicity, this motion piece focuses on Asher Pacey and his affinity for a pure and uncomplicated journey amongst Australia’s coastline. It depicts an adventure we all pine for…escaping the rat race, bee-lining for a remote stretch of coast off the well-worn path, equipped with little more than a swag, surfboard, fishing rod, beers, fun waves, no phone reception and a couple of good buddies to share it all with.”
In addition to gifting you with the fine edit above, Rhythm are giving you the chance to win the ultimate Asher Pacey prize. 1 x Asher’s signature DHD Bat Tail Twin-fin surfboard, 1 x woven shirt, 1 x t-shirt, 1 x pair of trunks, 1 x pair of shorts, 1 x Everyday hat and 1 x beach towel. Total value of over AUD $1,000. (Winner drawn 9am Monday 21st AEST).
