Opening Day At The Right: The Edit
Kerby Brown and pals from where you’d rather not be.
A week back, a sequence lined with the roundest, and most distressing walls of water, fell into Stab’s inbox. They featured Kerby Brown performing an (what should be) impossible backhand dash at The Right. “I was tracking that swell for ages,” Kerby told Stab. “I’m living down on the South Coast now and hadn’t surfed The Right yet this year, so I didn’t want to miss it. Totally a last minute decision, but I jumped in the car and drove through the night nonetheless.” Mike Riley, who documented the moving images, gave us the evidence that you see here. You won’t be Shazaming the audio, but you will be paying your respects to Mr Brown and pals, Chris Shanahan, Chris Ross and Ben Rufus as they skip through Western Australia’s saltwater mansion.
