Yadin Nicol At Southern California’s Most Crowded Spot
A frothy brown mess.
Yesterday in Southern California wasn’t pretty. As the surf deprived folk of the southern region geared up for the biggest swell of the winter, so did the storm and the coast for the most part maxed out. And it’s been raining for the past three weeks, which for So Cal might as well be three years. Good news, it’s helping the near-decade long drought, bad news, the water is a bit sickly. But after visions of Santa Barbara’s favourite sandbar starting peeling through the internet on Friday, Saturday was ants on ice cream, a few tunnels, and more chandeliers than anyone could ever want.
“Usually, when we get a large winter swell in California I can’t decide where to shoot because so many spots are firing…” lensman Mike Farkas tells Stab. “But when swell producing storms move on shore there are only a couple places I can count on. And Yadin Nicol can count on the fact that he is one of the few who can ride through the backwash and into the subsequent bowl.”
