Fact: Bruce Irons will get a Pipe Wildcard

Words by Elliot Struck | Photo by Laserwolf Tomorrow, the WSL will announce that Bruce Irons has a wildcard into the 2015 Billabong Pipeline Masters, in memory of his brother, Andy Irons. But, let’s back up a second. We all love a hashtag to rally behind in 2015 and of late, IG has been ablaze with fury for the WSL (what’s new?) re: Bruce Irons, and a Pipeline wildcard… or, lack thereof. You can read more about that here, as if you need to. The image of Bruce beaming above a rising sun Arakawa has been shared over 300 times, with some names of heft in the feed. And now Bruce is in the event. But not because of any hashtag. It’s because WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow is a fucking lord and knows how to pick his cards. Bruce will paddle out, not because of any Internet peer pressure, but because Kiz was always gonna put him in. And, Bruce has been surfing more than ever, and looking electrified! And how about that bit at the end of View From A Blue Moon? And… he’s Bruce Irons.
