Tiki Boats, Reverberation Radio And Nothing To Do But Drink
Scenes from Billabong’s very pleasant evening in Newport Beach.
Thursday night, in Southern California was surf party night.
Over the next few hours, you’ll be hit with many-a-photo gallery featuring similarly dressed individuals in different locales who spent their evenings on a slippery slope of complimentary booze courtesy of three companies.
The Stab Los Angeles contingent was pulled in three ways. Mine happened to be the race against traffic down the 405 to Balboa Bay, Newport Beach.
Here, Billabong was throwing an invite-only shindig on the county-famous Tiki Boat for their collaboration with Reverberation Radio – a weekly playlist founded by psych-rock gurus, Allah-Las. It’s worth a listen.
After the boat left the dock, most of the guests had already slugged down a few libations and In-N-Out cheeseburgers – the California staple diet. We proceeded to make left turns like a Nascar driver on Ambien with no hands on the wheel fueled by social lubricants. On the first deck, a gentleman spun vinyl records for the dancing crowd. Above deck, folks congregated, laughed, conversed and smoked.
A genuinely enjoyable night.
Bong provided boxes of #swag, filled with the Reverberation Collaboration being celebrated, complete with the most adorable tote bags to stuff as many articles of plastic covered fabrics in as anyone saw fit. Upon finally making it home, we unloaded our gifts to a pleasant surprise.
The line is not just wearable, but buyable.
Due to not bringing a second shirt and spending my night in Newport Beach, I’m wearing one now.
