A Pyromaniac’s Booze-Stoked Fever Dream!
These Germans sure know how to throw a fucking surf contest.
When the first photos from Volcom’s Rapid Jam in Munich landed in our inbox, it took a second to process what, exactly, was going on in the nighttime scene.
The day started off normal enough. A low key signing at local surf shop Santo Loco, Munich locals rubbing shoulders for a get together with the Volcom Europe’s Leon Glatzer, Gony Zubizarreta, Willi Aliotti, and Charly Quivront, the crowd nabbing up the very last of the limited Volcom and Santo Loco collaboration shirts, before heading over the the standing wave in the Eisbach River down the street.
The event was organized by Munich loc-dog and beloved European industry mover and shaker, Quiron Rohleder.
According to Volcom, “from flames and inflatable turtles on the wave, 1000 bucks for tricks, to loads of shotgun beers and the best guys to ever surf the static wave made the perfect combo for the rad atmosphere we enjoyed. It was a huge pleasure to see such a strong scene, getting rad and pushing the energy to the next level.”
