The place where trunks, Balinese art and a pool meet
Words by Rick Snowden LA based artist Cryptik has done the joint dance with Hurley and given birth to a new variation of Phantom trunks. Hurley’s Creative Director, Ryan Hurley, met Cryptik a few years ago and decided he dug the artist’s vibe. Ryan wanted Cryptik’s art in his world, and not just by hanging a bunch of canvas on the walls of the family home. Ryan, being the creative lateral thinker he is, came up with the idea of having the artist paint the inside of his pool. It’s a giant piece of blank concrete, after all. Cryptik’s inspiration for the piece drew from his love of Balinese traditional art and culture with its intricacies and detail apparent in his creation. When the paint had dried, the Hurley gang decided that the design would look excellent across a pair of high performance surf trunks. We tend to agree. See the full Cryptik x Hurley range, here.
