The Electric Acid Surfboard Test Takes Manly

Last night, just north of the bridge, a dense crowd braved the drizzle to help us launch the Australian leg of our Electric Acid Surfboard Test, starring Noa Deane, tour.
The iconic Hotel Steyne was the venue (where else?), and there can’t be many pubs in the world that’ve seen more hedonistic behaviour from surfers than the legendary Manly watering hole. We took a slightly more sophisticated approach last night as the centrepiece was the film, which – if we do say it ourselves – is something worth sitting quietly for 40 minutes for. And sit silently the Steyne did, which pleased filmer, editor and surfer alike.
Volcom’s Shane Azar managed to get the crowd hopped up pre-show with a few giveaways, and naturally the Coronas were flowing (responsibly). Noz said a few words, candid as always, and then all was hush for the duration of the show, which saw our hero take all manner of off-kilter crafts to the many faces (and caverns) of the North Shore. We survived the rest of the evening relatively unscathed, clinked glasses with an array of ladies, industry cats and sticker boys (including the hot off the plane, crowd favourite, Ian Crane) and now we’re onto Melbourne, then Byron. Huge thanks to Corona for the beer, Volcom for the fun, and the Steyne for having us.
