Some Summer Goods Stab Digs (part II):
If you’re in the southern hemi, then you can feel summer tuning up right now. The water temp’s rising, the air temp is definitely upped, and the need for extra cotton or rubber is falling. We’re all about being well-equipped for any season, and this one’s our favourite. So, here’s some wares we’re currently digging for the warmest months… **** In-N-Out At The Beach Mens LS Tee (White) You can call this as hip as you want. But we’re so very down with In-N-Out merch. Perfectly southern Californian, perfectly decadent. On the list of things to do immediately after swooping into LAX, this is at the top for most – you can be sure of that. This is way better than that stage Oz kids went through in the early 2000s of wearing McDonalds slider belts. The long sleeve shirt above is a highlight and the towel is real good, too. There’s some tough choices to make. (Shop here) **** Rhythm The Julian Mens Boardshort (Navy) Real talk: This colour palette is striking. Making good trunks is Rhythm’s bread and butter and Rhythm Livin’ is more than a clever marketing tagline – if you’ve ever worn a pair of their boardies, you’ll know that you really can, and will, live in them all summer. Perfect fit, and strong aesthetic to boot here… no calculator needed. (Shop here) **** Vans Excerpt Chino Pant (Ice Water) Presumably, hopefully, you’ve done away with your spray-on shit by now. And especially for summer. You’ll be more comfortable riding the breeze and feel the unusual pros of #normcore vibes in doing so. Order these a coupla sizes too big, pinch the belt, embrace your roots. (Shop here) **** Banks Classic Mens Tee (Off White) THANKS YO for being the one to bring out an off-white shirt, Banks. It’s way too hard to find this shade, but good Laird is it nice. The refined block lettering demands a smattering of applause, too. Nailing branding that’s simultaneously subtle and distinct isn’t small talk. (Shop here) **** Huf Full Flavour 5 Panel Cap (Red) Regardless of whether or not you have a persuasion for puffing, anything that emulates Marlboro’s v recognisable packaging is something of a winner. Garnish with the fact it comes from Craig Anderson’s new footwear sponsor, Huf, and we’re very partial. (Shop here) **** Hurley Cool By The Pool Alley Boardshort (Midnight Navy) Pretty simple reasoning behind this selection: 1) Trunks with functional pockets that don’t ballon and 2) Yes, Hurley have trunk that aren’t Phantoms. Enlightenment is the sweetest thing and these do just that in two fabulous ways. The fact they’re coloured in shades that aren’t obnoxious is a kicker, too. (Shop here) **** Odd Future Blow Tee (White) Tyler The Creator broke the Internet way before Kimmy K and his clothing label, from which this Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All teo was plucked, is as wonderfully weird as you’d hope. Even more weirdly, this is the most low key of the available stylez. (Shop here) **** Insted We Smile 80’s Wet Short (Black and Black) Why did it take so long for someone to realise that experimenting with neoprene panels on a set of trunks is a fucking brilliant idea? Whether or not you think ex-pro surfer and full-time legend Luke Stedman has nailed the combo with these Insted We Smile trunks, it’s a step in the right direction. (Shop here) **** Nike Stefan Janoski Max L Show (Black / White) Much like the wild popularity Dion Agius’ Los Angereds were met with by the Globe team, Stefan Janoski’s Nikes have been a cultural hit since they landed. They’ve been updated to incorporate that free sole, too. The best of every world, here. (Shop here)
