How To Love In 2018

Valentine’s Day is here and there are only three ways to feel about it: happy, sad, or indifferent. I teeter between happy and indifferent but would appreciate if you didn’t mention this to my girlfriend. In my experience females get immense joy from these emotion-heightening holidays and we would be stupid to take that from them. Just like they would be stupid to take our watching of old surf DVDs or meticulous cultivation of majority-unused quivers. These things are stupid, sure, but they make us happy.

And professional surfers, probably more than the rest of us, understand the value of giving their loved ones something special on Valentine’s Day. It’s one of the few times they can make up for their months on their road, their constant cancelling of plans, and their car’s distinct scent of wetsuit and piss. 

So let’s see how surfers have expressed their love, at least publicly, in 2018.
