Good Evening: Vissla Premieres Dream Steeple In Huntington Beach
Van Lyfe.
Just a few miles north of the commercially nauseating Main Beach, Vissla premiered their new film: Dream Steeple at Don The Beachcomber off PCH in Sunset Beach. The turnout was just right… or sardine packed.
In the fog filled streets of San Francisco’s Sunset District the Dream Steeple was born. It was the brain child of Jay Nelson and Corban Campbell. The modified surf van served as the film’s adhesive. The film itself was a dose lo-fidelity supported by dream-like soundtrack. Cam Richards played the part as the most featured surfer, we’ll call him the star. However, Vissla’s team is eclectic and consists of everything from high-performance to alternative surf gurus Derrick Disney and Bryce Young. Mr Eric Gieselman was one of the film’s standouts, with heavy Puerto Rican and Hawaiian tunnels and a few backflips for good measure.
When the film ended it was standing room only and the crowd was as saucy as Thursday night in Orange County permits. Mystic Braves took the stage and fueled the party with psych-rock reverberation and groovy get ups. The whole thing was very on brand. As social lubricants loosened up the feet tapping folk, the dance floor was born. We shuffled, boogied, flapped arms, spilt drinks and cavorted to the distorted wails emitting from center stage. At some point a mosh-pit broke thanks to the party’s fucked up youth, which was a bit strange and didn’t quite fit the jangley noises pouring from the amps. It got sweaty (in a bad way) and weird… testosterone increased to an uncomfortable level. Apparently the plan was to get rowdy — and rowdy it got.
