Don’t Miss: Jeff Divine In Costa Mesa Tonight!
Come party and listen at the master’s feet at Daydream Surf Shop!
If you’re in Southern California this evening, and share our unabashed penchant for surf geekery, and our fondness for a deep conversational dive, , in-person with cultural pillars, well, you aren’t going to wanna miss this one.
Jeff Divine—surf photographer, photo editor for both Surfer and The Surfer’s Journal over the last, I dunno, forty years—will be at Daydream Surf Shop in Costa Mesa tonight, with Daydream’s Kyle and Becca putting on their hostess caps for the surf community that have flocked to their Orange County outpost, offering complimentary refreshments as well as wrangling the crew at Bear Flag to pull up their food truck for the evening, before a party at Boathouse Collective afterwards.

The $10 tickets are selling out fast ($20 at the door), so don’t hesitate if you’re interested. We’ll let Kyle take it from here:
“We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the iconic photographer, Jeff
Divine
, at Daydream for an archival slideshow from
Divine
‘s body of work spanning across the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and through to today,” writes Kyle. “From
Divine
‘s observations of the evolving surf culture, we learn about contemporary surfing’s short history and watch as it’s slides from a free-loving recreation into a multibillion dollar commercial industry.
Divine
will walk us through some of his first hand experiences behind the lens and provide contextual backdrops to the cultural underpinnings that lay beneath the surface in an effort to more deeply understand the causes behind surf history’s twists and turns.
With one of the largest surf photography archives in existence,
Divine
‘s talents have been touted in art galleries, museums, cultural institutions, and publications world wide.
Divine
joined Surfer Magazine’s staff in 1971 and for the next 35 years
Divine
held editorial positions at Surfer Magazine and The Surfer’s Journal, traveling the world documenting diverse surfing experiences from international competitions to undiscovered surfing locations.
Doors will open at
7:00pm
as we kick the evening with complementary refreshments and allow attendees to mix and mingle informally. Bear Flag Fish Company will also be popping up with their food truck during this time serving up high quality seafood available for purchase. We will be moving into
Divine
‘s archival slideshow at
8:00pm.
Afterwards, we’ll open the floor for Q&A.
A selection of signed and framed prints will be available along with posters to be signed by
Divine
