Comments Of The Week, Edition 101
If there’s a comment in the Disqus and no one’s around to upvote, is it really there?
Sometimes we cheer for surf! Sometimes we boo. Occasionally we throw our hands up in disbelief, praise and wonder.
This week was the Licorice Allsorts of surf media. We heard the WSL’s plans to restructure. It was followed by fond memories of Bobby Martinez’s post-heat win mic drop at in New York back in 2011. Hurricane Irma brought waves to New Jersey and devastation to Florida. Our dear Brendan Buckley asked you all to go tip-to-tip. Our new Editor in Chief, Ashton Boggans, addressed the slice of our site that keeps this very feature alive and well.
Robbie Madison rode over a surfer on his boatercycle at Cloudbreak, to which @surfads earned this honorary COTW select from Instagram “It’s a vicious cycle really.” We talked genocide. We talked sharks, missed interference calls (and resurfs!), a Kai Lenny feature film that we actually want to see, Mason Ho’s new series (streaming exclusively on Stab) and whether or not Gabby Medina has earned the right to be surfing’s number one serpent. Hmm, anything else? Oh yeah! In news that won’t affect your daily life whatsoever, we bought Stab back.
Button your belts kids and it’s gonna be a wild ride!
