A Channel Islands/Mini Collab
Here’s a collab that makes perfect sense! The Mini Cooper’s one of the most iconic cars ever, thanks in no small part to a movie about a merry band of bank robbers spearheaded by one Steve McQueen. And CI is perhaps the most recognisable surfboard company in the world, thanks in no small part to one Robert Kelly Slater. They’ve birthed a child, and it’s perfect! Mr Robb about to reverse park it between the pylons. If there was an award for reading the surf industry like a map, then Kalani Robb would have a house full of golden compasses. He was the first surfer to be sponsored by Fox (petrol money!) he then jumped to the soon-to-be super power Hurley. Kalani then dabbled in Hollywood (Forgetting Sarah Marshall!) before returning to the surf realm and inking with Catch Surf and GoPro (talk about backing the right horses!) And now he’s part of a ménage à trois with CI and Mini. What your Dad might call: “A great little run around.” The craft itself’s a variation on the theme of the CI Skinny Fish. It features a ‘relaxed’ rocker and a nice wide squash tail, but the really awesome thing about it is that it’s got the Mini logo on it. A board that doesn’t judge, just works, now you’re speaking our language! If you live in an area that’s perpetuated by average waves, so let’s face it, pretty much all of us, then this gem’ll be a perfect everyday run around. Compact, economic, easy to park. A practical vessel for a practical man.
