Stab Podcast: We Have Reason To Believe the Olympics Might Actually Run in the Japan Pool
Manifestation at its finest.
Yesterday I opined that the IOC should abandon all plans and protocols and make a last-second switch to have surfers compete in the American Wave Machines pool in Makinohara, Shizunami, Japan — a small coastal town some 3.5 hours from Tokyo by car, or 90 minutes by bullet train.
After a chat with Evan Geiselman (who turned us onto the quality of the new air section earlier this week) and American Wave Machines mastermind Willy McFarland, we learned that this could possibly, potentially, actually happen.
The Japanese Olympic team has already been training there (sans Kanoa Igarashi) and the US Team is scheduled for a visit next week. From what we’ve gathered, should the waves be terrible at the main venue, this pool is being considered as an alternate option.
