You Paying Six Million Dollars For The Wave Of Your Life?
Noah Beschen on double-rotations, backside tube creativity, and the value of a wave at Pipe.
“When we went and shot this with Noah Beschen, his whole family was there, and they had an incredibly welcoming energy,” producer Garrett James told me. “We felt like part of the family.”
“He made all of that food — his breakfast for the Vans Pipe Masters — and then we went upstairs after we were done shooting for a family dinner with his mom, his grandma, everyone. It felt like we’d known them for our entire lives, it was amazing.”
Noah is part of a few extremely exclusive groups, including but not limited to; people who have landed a 540 (720?) on a surfboard, people who have packed a Code Red set wave at Teahupo’o, and people who confidently let go of their rail in backside tubes at Pipeline.
Anyone who’s met the 22-year old knows he’s also an energetic delight of a human being.
Alongside preparing for the Vans Pipe Masters, Noah will be doing the final premiere of his eponymous film ‘Noah’, this week at The Lineup in Ewa Beach. Created by Andy Woodward, the film is a hi-fi reflection of Noah’s fast-paced tendencies. We managed a sneak-peak during the US Open, and were thoroughly entertained.
For now, hear Noah’s thoughts on growing up at Rocky Point, the boards he rides at Pipe, and what he thinks a good wave at the treacherous arena is really worth.
