Who’s Riding A 5’10 Shorty At Solid Puerto?

There’s no question that when Puerto Escondido gets capital-B big, so do the boards. The place has staked its claim as one of the best beach breaks in the world for its ability to maintain a cylindrical shape from 2-20. This is amazing, but also leaves a lot of room for interpretation as to what boards are best suited for Puerto’s many moods. The above barrel fiesta features some of Puerto’s local hitters, like Janet Ramos and Stab favorite Sebastian Williams. While surfing relatively similar-sized waves, their choice of surfcraft couldn’t be more different. Jafet’s blades are markedly longer than Sebastian’s, likely due to his love of rolling into Puerto’s big right bowls. Through a little sleuthing on Sebastian’s Instagram, I was able to find out that the bomb he catches at 2:15 was actually on a 5’10 FRK. https://www.instagram.com/p/CEA-SsKnY1W/embed This size discrepancy is not reflective of Jafet or Sebastian’s manhood—it’s closer to one’s preference in alcohol intake. Some like a slow, steady roll into oblivion while others prefer snap-shots to the dome. Whatever your proclivities, just make sure you have a full board bag. You’re gonna need it.
