Watch: World’s Second-Rated Surfer Filipe Toledo Grabs The Boog!
Making the term “lay day” all the more literal.
We know it seems like ages ago, but the Quik Pro France got off to a remarkably slow start.
With the North Atlantic hardly rideable, surfers were forced to occupy their lay days with activities that kept both minds and bodies engaged.
Some golfed. Others, the potential winner included, tended to babies and wives. But Filipe Toledo, Miguel Pupo, and Ian Gouveia? Well, as the old adage goes, you can take a surfer out of the ocean but you can’t stop him from pissing in a pool.
The three Brazzos headed deep into the Spanish forest and found Wavegarden’s Cove (V 2.5), which offered a “more powerful wave than last year,” according to Filipe, and also a “proper slab.”
In fact the slab was so proper that it swept our two goofy-footers off their feet. The only one to tame it was the front-facing Toledo, who after exhausting himself with a series of tubes, turns, and punts, opted drag his very fertile dong in a few.
Is there a better way to spend a lay day?
