Watch: Third Reef Pipe Unload On Some Brave Individuals

So far, the state of Hawaii hasn’t been hit as hard by Covid-19 as other US states with only 26 confirmed cases as of yesterday. Surfing has yet to be banned** and more draconian measures have not been put in place.

These facts however are completely irrelevant to this video though which was filmed at the end of 2019. 

Filmed by Jack Coleman, the footage has been left primarily raw* featuring Mark Healey, Nathan Florence, and other Pipe regulars embarking on a few second and third reef takeoffs. Admiring the ability to wrangle a devil-wind-ridden wave is one thing, but watching the determination of those like Healey take consecutive beatings to merely continue paddling out is another.

It isn’t Pipe at it’s most beautiful, but if you’re somewhat of a sadist, it might just be Pipe at her most entertaining. 

* well, there is a handful of slow mo cuts. 

** non-essential travel has been banned. Surfing is not explicitly stated, but it’s somewhat implied. Many are still surfing in California, but at least there’s not 20,000 people flocking the sand like Bondi on Friday.
