Watch: Varied Approaches From The Vans Surf Team In Hawaii

One month on the North Shore and a whole lot of waves.

What do a milk-chugging time traveller, the nicest trio of brothers in surfing, and a world title winner with a fishing world record have in common?

Hint: they ride for the same surf company.

Vans has a helluva team, occupying every facet of the surf space. There’s Nathan Florence, a man literally redefining how much one can abuse their body in the name of big waves. There’s Nathan Fletcher, the ageless quad aficionado and straight-air king. There’s the Gudauskas brothers, perennial nice guys and mad scientists behind CI’s G-Skate model.

Juliette Lacome is quietly schooling all of us in French surf fashion. Let’s not sleep on Sophie Bell, who literally had never surfed Pipeline before last year’s Vans Pipe Masters and was one of the standout senders of the event.

And then there’s Mikey February, who probably has the most enviable blend of style and power on two fins today (and has my favorite bangers in this clip). Speaking as someone who had been smoked at Sunset and Haleiwa on several occasions, his evisceration of both waves is a pleasure to behold.

The above video captures the team’s North Shore highlights from January 2023, namely at Haleiwa, Sunset and Pipeline. Take in a lot of quality rides on a lot of different sleds. And please indulge in rampant speculation about which team rider will do best in the upcoming Vans Pipe Masters.
