Watch: Opening Day At Mavericks

San Diego photog/big wave stud, Derek Dunfee, has been on a tear the last few weeks, bouncing over the Nazare for some early season mutants, before blasting back west for the first proper XXL Pacific pulse. 

This week, with everywhere from Jaws to Waimea to Oahu’s lesser-seen outer reefs going massive, Dunfee—no slouch with a rhino chaser, himself—hung in the Mavericks channel with his lens pointed at the swarm gathered for opening day at the NorCal life-taker. With forecastr still insisting on El Nino conditions for the North Pacific the next few months, could this be but the lemon next to the pie for 2018/2019?
