Watch: Mundaka’s Best Week Of Surfing In The Last Ten Years
Bold claim? Watch Oxbow back it up.
G-Land. Skeleton Bay. Cloudbreak. Gnaraloo. The one in Chile whose name still feels weird to write. And so on.
Sometimes the world feels biased against goofs, but when you consider the amount of lefts, you might get the sense that the divine creator likes to press her left foot right up there against the kick tail of her presumably Astrodeck traction pad.
But is there any left with more mystique than Mundaka?
It’s cold. It’s fickle. It’s Basque as fuck. It had that day in 2006. And it recently had one of its best stretches of surf in recent memory. Let’s borrow from Oxbow’s description here:
“Two days with 3m at 15s and WSW winds, followed by a day of 4m at 17s with southerlies, and to wrap it up, one last day with 3m+ at 18s and south winds.”
Oh baby. Having gone on a recent spree of Euro lord signings, the OG Euro lord surf brand couldn’t help but make a vid out of the ordeal. And if the numbers and directions above mean very little to you, just hit play and you’ll figure it out.
