Watch: For Two Days Last Week, New York Was A Peaky Beachbreak Heaven
Say what you will about Ben Gravy (in particular) and vlogs (in general), but there is absolutely nothing to hate about well-overhead, ridiculously peaky, sand-coddled tubes close to the shore.
That’s what New York provided for two straight days last week, in what many locals are calling the best swell in years. The video above lends credence to their claims.
Starring in this raw, 17-minute cut are New Jersey, New York, and Californian pros, including Balaram Stack, Sam Hammer, Mike Gleason, Colin Moran, Andrew Jacobson, Pat Schmidt, Tyler Stanaland etc., who probably had more fun than a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man in a cat 4 cyclone.
I’d imagine their shoulders are equally as sore.
Tap the play button to experience, third-hand, the thrill of hunting down and wrangling these delightfully swinging peaks.
Oh and here’s a realtime clip, just to demonstrate how consistent and wedgy it actually was (no post-production voodoo).
