Summertime in Los Angeles is a sweltering clusterfuck—traffic and horns, swarms of tourists and tech start-up wags, and a plague of basics blasting down sidewalks down electric scooters—and there is little respite from the maddening crowds save for getting in your car and heading North. 

Last week, with a medium-sized south swell funneling into LA’s most prized right point, Jack Coleman braved the trek up from Orange County, and stuck his tripod in the sand at First Point, as a handful of local and visiting heads threaded through the pack, with cameos from Joel and Tosh Tudor, Allen Sarlo, Jared “Bangbang” Mell, Nick Melanson, and more.
