Watch: Conner Coffin’s Rail Work Is Superior To Any Rookie’s On Tour
No air reverses here, just big tunnels and a whole lot of power!
Mr Coffin’s coming into Rio off a second round exit at Margies. The rookie from Santa Barbara’s currently sitting in 11th place after his solid opening finishes at Snapper and Bells and is looking to regain that momentum. He’s been in Rio for the past few days. “The waves have been fun, the water hasn’t been too dirty and nobody’s contracted the Zika Virus,” he told Stab yesterday on the state of contest event… well, after we called him to get his first hand experience of viewing a man get gunned down in broad daylight at a gas station behind the competitor’s area. “It’s definitely the sketchiest thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.
So here’s Conner at Rincon, the North Shore and beyond, burying his rail and finding deep tunnels with an exit. Brad Gerlach, Conner’s coach told Stab, “Conner’s still growing into his body and his own. In two years he’ll be one of the best surfers on tour.” We’ll see if this prophesy comes to light, but in the meantime, sip on Conner’s face melting carves.
