Watch: Best Keiki Ever (Recorded)
Clark Little’s suicidal shorepound transforms into grinding wedge!
Here’s something nobody ever could have ever imagined.
Surfable Keiki.
You know – the North Shore’s outrageously death-defying shorebreak, made famous by Clark Little and Andre Botha, and just a few glute-burning strides south of Log Cabins.
How did it happen? Well, Hawaii recently received hurricane swell from a very odd direction, that being west-south-west. As noted by Koa Rothman in the clip above, this storm sent eight-foot waves to both Oahu’s North and South shores, resulting in some magical moments on either end.
For a brief window, this direction created a refraction effect from the rock feature on the south end of Keiki, leading to more than a few makable, draining tubes.
Some of the standouts were: JOB, Barron Mamiya, and whoever the lady charger was jumping off the roof.
And this is just another case of “cyclone swells do the darnedest things”. Ain’t that right?
