This Is What Fishies See When Nathan Florence Surfs

More than half of you will hate this video. 

The surfing doesn’t come in until halfway through (1:38 to precise), and even then it’s incredibly slow and obscure. But if you can curb your desire for instant-gratification and consider the level of cinematography involved, you might walk away with a newfound respect for fully-submerged surf clips. 

I’ll leave the music part of this edit alone, because I honestly don’t know enough to comment. On surfing, however, I have countless opinions. 

The turn at 1:55 is remarkable, as Nathan’s board snaps into place and moments later we see a monsoon befall the water’s surface. What happened at 2:37, I’m still trying to figure out. Alleyoop? Chop-hop? And the ender clip at 3:16 is simply sublime. 

Seeing our sport performed from this unique vantage point adds a different layer of profundity to surfing. How fucking lucky are we to dance on water daily?
