The Kids Are Just Fine

Remember 2007? Foo Fighters, Fergie, and Timbaland dominated the Billboard Hot 100. No Country for Old Men was playing in theaters, and Mick Fanning had just snagged his first world title. Thirteen-year-old Rex Hennings probably doesn’t remember much from 2007, considering that was the year he was born. Kids’ surf videos get a bit of a hall pass. Even if the surfing isn’t great, there will still be plenty of positive feedback, as there should be. Criticizing kids is a pastime reserved for true mouth breathers uncomfortable with their own level of performance.

That being said, this kid is good. Legit good. Seriously, surf coaches could use this footage to teach students. Open shoulders, completed turns, smooth airs. You name it, Rex has got it. Form is the foundation for elite surfing, and this Gen-Z was nice enough to put on a clinic for us.
