Thank You Andy: The New Trilogy

Watch Ethan, Griffin and Seth channel their inner Raw Irons.

Earlier this year (back when travel was easily accessible), we took a trip to the Marshall Islands to film ‘For Whom The Atolls‘. While on the trip, Martin Daly began whispering of a world-class righthand reef pass throughout the cabins of the Indies Trader. We knew we were in for a treat.

With Billabong’s Ethan Ewing, Griffin Colapinto and Seth Moniz in tow, the comparisons to the original Trilogy of Andy, Parko, and Taj were impossible to suppress. With all three signed up for this year’s revised World Tour, it won’t be long before they’re sharing podiums and champagne showers.

Upon arriving at Martin’s wave (a wave we’re quite sure Andy would have lost his mind over) we slipped a surprise out for the crew—three boards from Andy’s personal quiver.

A 5’11 JS, 6’1 Mayhem, and 6’6 Arakawa, these boards represent three distinct relationships that Andy had with some of surfing’s most iconic board labels. We ran back our concept from the original Thank You Andy, letting the boys loose to do their best impression of Mr. Irons himself.

As always, we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work on a project such as this. Andy and Billabong will forever be one of surfing’s iconic partnerships. We know that if Andy could see these three up-and-comers—all with the Bong logo proudly emblazoned on their nose—putting his boards to good use, he wouldn’t be able to help but crack a smile.
