Sally Fitzgibbons, Looking Back, Moving Forward
Remember when she won Fiji in a Gath lid?
Is there a more overlooked and underrated surfer than Australia’s perennial World Title hopeful, the bronzed and bright-eyed Sally Fitzgibbons.
For the first episode of “Looking Back/Moving Forward,” a two-part series produced with our friends at Land Rover—who claim Sally proudly as an ambassador—we take a spin around the Gold Coast as Sally waxes nostalgic about the pivotal moments, hurdles, and headaches she’s endured over her eleven years on tour; from her eardrum bursting (and winning) performance in Fiji (in a helmet!), early days donning a singlet at Snapper, and the men who have had her back the whole time: her pops, Martin, and coach, Dan Ross.
While this first episode of the series focuses on Sally’s past decade on tour, look forward to the second in the series, looking forward at her potential path to victory in 2019, which many close to her are claiming is Sally’s Year.
