This one is for the real living enthusiasts, and will quite possibly force you to reconsider your current existence. Those are heavy words, but such is the power of the opening montage with accompanying speech by legendary British philosopher Alan Watts. And then comes the surfing – Ricardo Christie and pals Albee Layer, Andrew Mooney, Billy Stairmand and Tim O’Connor and are well and truly sticking it to us in Owen Milne’s new film, Lemonyip Livin. Filmed entirely in New Zealand over autumn, the gents score some unbelievable waves and are looking well lubricated in the frosty conditions. Watch these gents slice up big wooly walls and seek shelter in some usually dark caves as they traverse across the NZ countryside.
“It was quite weird how this film came together,” said director Owen Milne. “I travelled to New Zealand to meet up with Ricardo and do a 10-day Roadtrip around the North Island. Two months later I was on a plane back to Australia with two full hard-drives. It felt like I was leaving my new home. I got to meet some super cool people and had the chance to experience some amazing places. It was actual madness travelling around in a van working on a project for weeks on end with the boys. I think being a generation behind made the trip a lot more fun for everyone (laughs).”
