Rainbow Bay Did Some Silly Things Over The Weekend

Whoever’s been praying to Huey this season has been doing an outstanding job of it.
Winter swells have been a dime a dozen in 2020, which is probably why Australian board builders’ queues are currently out the door. But a dearth of equipment hasn’t stopped the hordes from congregating at their favorite watering hole.
Last weekend, something special happened on an infrequently acclaimed section of the Superbank.
For those uninitiated, the strip of sand after Little Mali but before the Greenmount headland is called Rainbow Bay. It’s typically fun, occasionally majestic. This past weekend was more on the occasional side.
“Best day of waves in the bay I’ve seen since the 3 Degrees swell,” said long-time Cooly surf documentarian Lachie McKinnon. We’ll take his word for it.
