Watch: Louie Hynd Finds Exceptional Surf Far From Home
An early look at episode 4 of ‘Imagination Roulette’.
There’s nothing more rewarding than having the lineup to yourself. The thought of not having to look back while taking off is heavenly. Surfing serves as a mental escape, and it is best served uninterrupted. Many of us will take the shitty but empty break down the beach 10 times out of 10.
The thing is, a lonely wave doesn’t necessarily imply a quality deficit. Some gems go unridden just because they require a little camping and off-roading. While it may be time-consuming, the extra effort goes a long way—just ask Louie Hynd.
Louie recently traded the shoulder bumping routine of the Gold Coast for something a bit more secluded. What he found was cylindrical perfection, with limited bobbing heads in sight. Hynd faced no paddle battles, no small talk about the weather, and no human buoys floating on the inside.

After watching the film above, consider shuffling this week’s schedule around and planning a trip to an empty beach. Even if the report is unfavorable, go and enjoy a few hours of alone time. Just don’t expect to surf like Mr. Louie here.
