Otis Carey And His Coffs Harbour Home-Town
Occy, Parko and the Billabong crew descend on the Mid-North Coast locale.
Coffs Harbour is home to a number of shred-heads, and Otis Carey is one of the town’s most prominent figures—a standout in both the Australian art and surf spheres.
The Billabong team recently went on an expedition from their Burleigh Heads home turf to the NSW coastal town of Coffs. Where they stoked out some locals with the presence of Occy, Parko and Callinan, as well as bringing a tonne of gear to dish out to the thirsty grommets.
Otis, Lee Winkler and Andrew Lindsey run through the history of the town, the iconic Coopers surf store and also talk about some of the up and coming talent lurking amongst the regions beachies and reefs – such as, Ethan Stocks and Carly Shanahan, who sneak into the clip.
Outside of the surf arena, Otis discusses the strong indigenous community in the town, as well as his first ever art exhibition in Coffs Harbour – which includes a floor installment he commissioned for the boys to dance around.
If visual art isn’t up your alley though, don’t fear, because there was a tinge of aural rambunctiousness to the night when Wash (Creed, Ellis and Beau) snapped some strings and banged some skins for a gig the attendees won’t be forgetting anytime soon. A memory which is exacerbated by the low-key tinnitus they’re all now suffering from.
Watch it all above or have a scroll below at some of the digital imagery of the Bong’s weekend in Coffs. Or head to the Billabong site for a more elaborate run-down and gallery.
A similar incident to the time Kelly burnt Parko at Snapper.
