Mason Ho Finds More Novelty Tubes Metres From Rocks

It would be weird if he didn’t.

Mason Ho has the best job in the surfing.

Any job where you get paid to surf is a good one. But of all the paid surfing jobs, I think Mason takes the cake for the best one possible.

Rip Curl’s ‘The Search Series’ is about finding and discovering novel waves in undiscovered pockets of the globe that could in theory, host surfable waves. A project like that will take you to many surprising and unexpected places. Proper adventures. Not mere surf travel to established breaks and resorts.

Without competition stress or strict athlete regimes, Mason is permitted to have fun and be himself. Being himself usually means identifying a boil proximal to a shallow rock shelf and finding a way to surf it. Impossible drops, backwash, no margin for error are synonymous with Mason’s surfing. And yet, somehow he makes it look fun.

Mexico is a well-established surf destination where you will find other people in the lineup. At this particular wave, you will not. Watch and see why.
