Kolohe Andino’s got a rocket in his pocket
Do we have a winner? Here we get Brother and his new sled in some competition and free surf sessions shot over the Euro leg of the tour. Here it is, the PocketRocket, Matt ‘Mayhem’ Biolos has been working with his competitive team to develop a board that would maintain speed and control in tight turns and surf critically in the pocket without any loss of drive. Matt hollowed out the stringer line, exaggerated the concave while maintaining a decent amount of rail rocker. The result is a board that’ll still provide speed and lift in junky, small surf and push through flat sections, but in chest high to slightly overhead juice the board really hits its sweet spot. Mayhem’s calling it his “surfboard 101” for 2016 and in the words of the foam chemist himself, “we felt we had a winner,” a stereotypical shortboard with proven performance.
