The Gold Coast all seems a bit unfair. You have Snapper, Kirra, and D-Bah on top of a slew of other mechanical breaks within throwing distance of one another that are all better than a top three day at your locale on an average swell. An expanse of gunpowder that turns into an exceptional fireworks show when the swell angles line up and the conditions are just right. Such was the case during a recent mid-autumn swell. Giving into temptation, Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Mikey Wright, Asher Pacey, and (a totally dominating) Mitch Parkinson joined the masses, choosing Greenmount as their arena. Sure, it’s a bit crowded. But, think about it, how can you not feel compelled to paddle out when the waves look this enticing?
