Kelly Slater, Four To The Floor This Evening At Backdoor
An afternoon delight shot from the sky.
Backdoor has had its face splashed across the entirety of surf media today. This morning, we learned that Dusty Payne had taken a terrible trip over the falls requiring resuscitation on the sand and a trip to the hospital. Then, we received the footage – which if you watch closely, you can just make out Dusty on his way to meet the reef. The amount of time he spent under is still being disputed.
This afternoon, on a brighter note, Matheus Couto set his drone free, hastily steering in the direction of 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater, who was scratching into something special. Coming off the back of a strange Hawaiian season, (finishing 28th on tour, having Gabriel Medina drop-in to seal his fate) it’s nice to see the 11x Champ is still capable of delivering a smile to our faces, in this instance via one single golden hour barrel.
