Watch: The Very Best Of Young Gun, Justin Becret
The Frenchman’s edit is so choice.
Surfing will progress, it’s inevitable. Fast forward twenty years, or even ten, pro surfing will be unrecognisable. Majority of the top 34 will have slipped into the shade (excluding Kelly perhaps), their fire smothered by the vibrant groms and rookies of today. The webcast will feature a fresh set of faces. A bright new cast of stars to dazzle, entertain and create their own forms of controversy. Just who’ll be calling out the “tennis tour”, swearing at judges or stomping the first double twist in a jersey is yet to be seen, though together with Quiksilver, we’ve been working to find out. Welcome back to Young Guns, you’ve tuned in just in time for the main event.
Before the final eight go toe to toe for the title, we thought you’d like to get to know them a little better. So, here’s a punchy reel and a string of questions to break the ice.
Ok, this kid’s the real deal. He can pop and whip it like the rest of the featherweights, but Frenchman Justin Becret’s trump card lies in his game in the heavy stuff. It’s super impressive. His edit is worldly, balanced between serious action in Hawaii, to punchy beach breaks, girls, drone and a sprinkle of water footage for taste. Does this rise above the YG brine? Perhaps. It was powerful enough to tickle the fancy of head judge Jeremy Flores, who awarded him his place among the final eight.
